Hyundai and autonomous software company Plus have developed an electric AV.
The companies are adding self-driving capabilities to an existing truck that debuted in 2020, Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell.
The truck features two 90-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell systems, a 350-kilowatt electric motor, and a driving range of more than 450 miles per charge, per release.
“A carbon-free future with autonomous hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks that also improve safety and performance is a future Plus is proud to support with its advanced self-driving technology,” said Plus COO and co-founder Shawn Kerrigan.
Trials of the truck are underway in the US and add to Plus’ foray into demonstrating the technology in places like the San Antonio to Dallas corridor.
Founded in 2016, Plus operates in the US, Europe and Australia.
Other companies have introduced a similar mix of technologies, including Einride and Gatik, as well as Embark Technology before its end.
